Even if late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell could not have foreseen the latest developments in his band’s world. Nearly three decades after Nowell’s untimely passing, two distinct versions of Sublime will be on tour in 2024. This situation has caused tension, especially for Rome Ramirez, who will be performing under the name Sublime With Rome while original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh reunite as Sublime, with Bradley’s son, Jakob Nowell, as the new frontman. Ramirez expressed his disapproval of the situation, stating, “If it were up to me, this wouldn’t have been how things played out.”

Ramirez, who had been keeping the Sublime legacy alive with Wilson since 2009, has released a new single, a cover of Lee Fields’ “Forever,” showcasing his soulful vocals. He is looking towards a solo career in a similar musical direction while continuing his side project with Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell. Ramirez revealed that the decision to end Sublime With Rome was his own, citing Wilson’s health issues as a factor. Despite enjoying performing the band’s songs, Ramirez found it challenging to witness Wilson’s struggles with his health.

Wilson responded to the situation, mentioning his improved health and excitement to play music with Gaugh and Jakob Nowell. He expressed his gratitude for the time with Sublime With Rome and wished Ramirez well in his future endeavors.
